Carolyn Carter, EA

Working in the tax field since earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Florida in 1981, Carolyn has experience working with a broad spectrum of clients and unique tax situations. She is committed to helping clients protect their income.

Enrolled agents (EAs) are America’s Tax Experts. EAs are the only federally licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and also have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS.

Carolyn understands that most people, especially family-owned businesses, don’t enjoy dealing with the complexities of income and payroll tax compliance. Using her knowledge, experience and personal attention, she proactively helps clients make smart choices and avoid the consequences of mistakes. Carolyn maintains direct communication with clients throughout the year via personal meetings, our company website and newsletter, and through public speaking presentations.

Enrolled agents (EAs) are America’s Tax Experts. EAs are the only federally licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and also have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS. In addition to the stringent testing and application process, the IRS requires enrolled agents to complete 72 hours of continuing education every three years in order to maintain their active enrolled agent license and practice rights. NAEA members are held to a higher standard than the IRS’ minimum 72 hour continuing education requirement. NAEA members must complete 30 hours of IRS-approved continuing education hours each year (which would lead to a total of 90 hours for each three-year EA enrollment cycle period). Because of the expertise necessary to become an enrolled agent and the requirements to maintain the license, there are only about 53,700 practicing enrolled agents.

THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ENROLLED AGENTS AND OTHER TAX PROFESSIONALS

Only enrolled agents are required to demonstrate to the IRS their competence in all areas of taxation, representation and ethics before they are awarded unlimited representation rights to represent taxpayers before IRS. Unlike attorneys and CPAs, who are state-licensed and who may or may not choose to specialize in taxes, all enrolled agents specialize in taxation.

Carolyn is very active in the state and local chapter of Suncoast Enrolled Agents. As well as a member of the NATP, National Association of Tax Professionals.

You can count on Carolyn to ensure that complying and filing personal and business tax returns is as stress-free as possible. She brings energy and enthusiasm to a task most people prefer to defer. Carolyn’s commitment to helping people reduce their tax burdens makes her a valuable asset to our clients. Most importantly, Carolyn is available year-round and is ready to assist when you need it.

In her free time, Carolyn, is an avid traveler and encourages her clients to travel and loves to discuss their travels. She has traveled as far away as China on a tour. Every big occasion she celebrates by taking a memorable trip. Carolyn has been married since 1983 to her college sweetheart, Doug and they have two children, Winn and Becky. She loves dogs and you can see their pictures in her Trinity office.
